Deadly Banking – I went to the bank earlier today and all in all the trip takes around 7 minutes or so. I got completely bombarded by idiots! I wasn’t prepared for this! This is a pretty crappy video showing said idiots. The people/cars were a lot closer than they seem due to the wide angle lens.

I went out again to test the Go Pro HD with different rendering settings. I decided to go out when the World Cup match was being played as i’m not really bothered by football. The roads are bliss! Not a single perosn for miles on a road which would normally be a hassle and worth avoiding! Thank you football, you served your purpose for one thing! I’m still messing around with the settings so the quality will get better, also the footage will, i’m just going on some roads to test at the moment. Enjoy!

Go Pro HD Test – First Ride – My Go Pro HD finally came! I stuck it to my head and then did a few quick runs; one to the pub to have my dinner and another to go get some petrol. The quality is not the greatest as i was messing around with settings on both the camera and the editing software i use. I have to say that i am very impressed with the Go Pro HD so far. It could just do with another pre-curved mount and then it would be perfect because being the dumb idiot that i am i messed the first one up haha. Expect more posts like this in the future and i will also be purchasing an external microphone for clearer sound as well as a 32GB SD card shortly. The music is done by Brad Sucks and used under license. Here’s the video:

At the moment I’m just waiting on the Go Pro HD to arrive which means that I’ve not really got an awful lot to talk about or to try and whisk into a topic. I’ll quickly go over what I’ve done recently and then talk about the modifications I want to do to the Hornet in the future. Tonight I’ve been to a car/bike show in Hope, Derbyshire and there were tons of nice bikes and cars. Loads of old BSA’s, Triumphs and cruisers but the sport bike and street bike scene were desperately under represented! Where were you guys!? Apart from Lamborghini’s, Aston Martins and loads of old cars there was also a tank there which seemed to be attracting quite a bit of attention.

Modifications:

To get onto the real topic of this article I’ll begin here. I have a Honda Hornet 600 from 2002 which was slightly modified when I bought it a few months ago. Seeing as it is such a fun bike I’ve decided that I want to modify it to a street fighter kind of level. I don’t want to go all out with a custom paint job and everything as it is the bike I use everyday in all weather to commute on, so there’s no real point in spending thousands of pounds on chrome work and flashy points. I simply want a good everyday bike which looks unique, is fun and won’t get damaged easily.

Above is a picture of the bike currently. I don’t mind it as it is but there are a few things I want to change. The bike has the following modifications currently:

  • Belly-pan
  • Rear Hugger
  • Radiator Guard
  • Fender Extender
  • Tail Tidy
  • Small Arrow Indicators/Signals
  • Colour Coded Side Panel
  • Wheel stripes
  • Crash Bungs/Frame Sliders
  • Bar End Protectors

The modifications I want to add to it are as follows:

  • Slip-on Exhaust (Preferably Beowulf Stubby)
  • Bar end Mirrors/some other mirrors
  • Twin “Dominator” Headlights
  • Stunt Grips
  • Clear LED Tail light
  • Blue Anodised Renthal Bars
  • K & N Air Filter

As you can see I don’t have far to go before the end product. Almost all of these modifications make the bike more practical as well as improving looks. If I had the cash I’d also like to strap a big ass turbo kit to it but that will have to wait haha. I’ve really grown attached to this bike as it is just about the perfect all rounder for my needs. I’d like a ZX10r, I’d like a KTM Supermoto but all of these bikes serve a specific purpose. I need to choose a bike which will allow me to do everything; regularly commute 100 miles (200 return), ride everyday to pick up food, be a blast on weekends. All of this in all weathers. It’s a lot to ask of a bike and I’m fairly confident I chose the best one for the task. The Hornet is “me” and I’m glad. In an ideal world I wouldn’t need this bike – I could have my ZX10, Supermoto, and tourer, but the world is not ideal and the Hornet makes my irrational world a little more perfect…

Wow, where did that come from haha. Go Pro HD soon my friends! Then you won’t have to put up with my ramblings that  I write at 3 AM.

Hey all, I finally ordered my Go Pro HD! It should be with me in about a week’s time so I will be able to create proper videos finally. I’m going to keep it recording most times I’m on the bike as a sort of security purpose – both insurance wise and video content wise. I often see quite funny things happening while I’m riding around and some of the moments I’ve missed have been priceless, such as a guy reversing into a traffic light he had just repaired in front of a crowded bus stop haha. Still laughing just thinking about it haha.

I’m hopefully going to get some kind of Dictaphone voice recorder to record audio properly as well as the Go Pro won’t really do a good job of speech. They are apparently bringing a microphone out though later in the year so that should be better. I’ve still got the Portugal article to post as I’ve got some really awesome images and video from that trip.

Life is going well at the moment, everything is all set for moving to the coast after tomorrow and I’ve got the Majorca trip to look forward too in a few weeks time. I’ll be there for two weeks without a bike so am trying to figure out if I can hire one or not. Financially I am ok as I’ve just sold the camera and can buy the stuff I’ve been wanting to for a while. Not much else really, apart from the fact that I might attend the Motovlog Europe meeting if I can get my finger out of my ass and actually make a vlog haha. Seems like a condition to me!
